Childline

FXB India Suraksha is the collaborative partner for CHILDLINE in Gautam Budh Nagar District. Childline is India's first 24 hours, free, emergency phone outreach service for children in need of care & protection. CHILDLINE 1098, a four digit toll-free line would land any child's call on the nearest CHILDLINE call centre manned by counselors and social activists. 1098 was a well-chosen number; in Hindi, it became 'dus nao aath', a simple, easy to remember number. It is supported by the Ministry of Women and Child Development of Government of India and operates in 133 cities/districts in 26 States and three Union Territories. The service is an efficient link between children in need and services that exist for their rehabilitation and welfare, utilizing the existing infrastructure and systems to ensure children their rights. The project involves setting up a 24-hour Tele-helpline.

In Gautam Budh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, FXBIS provides services focused on children in distress such as street children, children who have fled from their homes along with those in a situation of physical, mental and emotional abuse. Apart from it, the service also caters to the need of children forced into child labour. On dialing 1098, the child or an adult on his behalf, can get access to various services that are required by them.

In the year of 2013-14, out of 455 cases being attended, 153 were reunited with their parents, 23 children were rescued and sent to shelter homes last year and rest of the cases were also intervened and settled. Seven substance abused children who formed dance group with support from CHILDLINE has now opened an academy and trains a group of 10 children with minimum fee. To strengthen its efforts towards child protection, FXBIS has collaborated with National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Government of India to support child protection mechanisms in district of Gautam Buddha Nagar.
