FXB-VILLAGE PROGRAMME

Presence of FXB-Village in India

One significant and effective programme developed by FXB over time is the "FXB-Village". This is an integrated programme for securing the social and financial stability of orphans and vulnerable children affected by HIV/AIDS.

Towards Self Reliance

The "FXB-Village" rests on our firm belief that enabling the supporting communities to achieve self reliance is the most effective way of lifting people out of poverty and helping them regain their dignity and self esteem.

The model has been a great success in Uganda and Rwanda. In India, it has been launched at 5 locations; and we are seeking support to launch it at many other locations.

The Philosophy

The FXB-Village programme is a community-based and multi-component programme that reaches the beneficiaries through an agile and light organisational structure. It provides a simple but very cost-effective model that can be scaled up with local participation at a cost that is a fraction of other alternatives for providing care and support to HIV/AIDS infected and affected orphans and vulnerable children.

It is an empowering instrument that promotes ownership, ensures sustainability and addresses the root causes of human insecurity while respecting specific economic, political, social and cultural contexts.
