FXB India Suraksha felicitate 'change agents' on International Women's Day
New Delhi, March 10, 2014: For Sunita living in Gautam Budh nagar in Noida, these days, the mornings are about rushing to the Suraksha education center where she teaches slum kids. For Bimolata living in a village in Manipur, her excitements these days revolve around weaving kauna baskets. Bimolata and Sunita, living thousand miles apart are elements of FXB's varied interventions to improve lives. And what connects them is a sense of being independent women who proudly lead the world as peer leaders "inspiring change".
On International Women’s Day, FXB India Suraksha celebrated the spirit of womanhood with a salute to all change agents. To make this day special, a series of events were hosted in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Manipur and Uttar Pradesh.

In Ranchi, Jharkhand, where FXB India Suraksha along with UN Women works to secures lives of unprivileged, more than 300 women and adolescent girls who have been trained as change agents to bring a behavioral change towards the empowerment of women and girls in villages, gathered under one roof. To mark the occasion, Mamta Borgoyary, CEO, FXB India Suraksha acknowledged and addressed the group in Ranchi. She said “This is a moment of absolute pride for me, as I thank all my peer leaders who inspires me every day, to do more for all of you. You are the power of today's world. All of you stand at the heart of FXB India Suraksha, which forces us to craft a better future for all of you.”
At Mathur Periyar colony in Tamil Nadu, 45 women from FXBVillage celebrated the day by indulging themselves in some fun filled recreational activities. It was followed by a talk where the group was sensitized towards various burning issues related to women and her security. “I had never known that there is a special day for the women to be celebrated worldwide. This is the first time I am participating and learning about my rights. I feel special today. Thank you FXB India Suraksha”, said Muniyammal, FXBVillage, Mathur Periya Colony.
At Gautam Budh nagar in Noida in Uttar Pradesh, where a slum intervention program is running, the day started with a few talk sessions focused towards awakening the ladies about the current scenario of women in the society, their security issues, and the special schemes being offered by the government for women welfare and empowerment. It was followed by awareness film screening which led to a discussion where the women members spoke their heart out.

In Manipur, the women SHG members, who once faced the threat of HIV/AIDS, but now, live a content life got together for the day. All dressed colorfully, with smiles on their faces, they looked as fresh as flowers. The celebrations primarily revolved around sharing their experiences of leaving behind a tough life and starting new chapters in their journey. While some poured their sentiments by singing a folk song, other just talked about how they progressed in their lives, with FXB's India Suraksha's support.
A group of 70 odd women in Vishakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh marked the day by making themselves feel special. Leaving all the worries behind, they indulged themselves into games and competitions. The happiness was palpable. The women beneficiaries were also invited to share their journey of accomplishment as the rest of the crowd applauded on their achievements.
FXB India Suraksha with vast experience in implementing interventions at source that builds capacities of women and young girls has been committed to the empowerment of women and children who are stigmatized and abandoned in society since last several years.
